Stellantis has an opportunity to create thousands of good-paying auto jobs in Michigan. Right now, facilities like Trenton Engine, Warren Truck, and the Detroit Assembly Complex are operating far below capacity. If the company is serious about shifting production to the U.S., it's already positioned to do so—especially in Southeast Michigan.

But instead of investing in American jobs, Stellantis has responded to new auto tariffs by sending lobbyists to Washington, D.C., to pressure the Trump Administration to roll back the policy in favor of their corporate agenda. Meanwhile, more than 3,000 Stellantis workers remain indefinitely laid off—and yet the company’s Board of Directors still found $2.6 billion to distribute to shareholders in dividends.

UAW members plan to send a clear message: Stellantis can either support American workers and communities or continue putting Wall Street profits ahead of the people who build their vehicles.

Examples of Stellantis plants in Michigan operating below capacity:

  • Warren Truck: Built 341,778 vehicles in 2017. Built 83,892 in 2024, down 75%. Operating at 44% capacity in 2024.
  • Jefferson North: Built 373,480 vehicles in 2018. Built 182,934 in 2024, a 51% production decline. Operating at 68% capacity in 2024.
  • Sterling Heights Assembly Plant: Built 344,974 vehicles in 2019. Built 191,058 vehicles in 2024, a 45% decline. Operating at 54% capacity in 2024.
  • Trenton Engine (South): Produced 931,000 engines in 2014. Built 230,000 engines in 2024, a 75% decline in the last decade.
