UAW members and leaders from across the country will hear from UAW President Shawn Fain and elected leaders, bringing the Stand Up movement to the political arena.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United Auto Workers will host its national Community Action Program (CAP) conference in Washington D.C., bringing together hundreds of members, delegates, leaders, and activists representing hundreds of thousands of workers across the country to chart the political path forward for the UAW.
On the heels of the momentous Stand Up Strike that delivered record contracts at the Big Three and has fueled a historic new organizing effort, the conference will bring UAW members, executive leadership, and national lawmakers together to build on the Stand Up movement in the political arena.
UAW President Shawn Fain will speak throughout the conference and will deliver opening remarks on Monday, January 22, and closing remarks on Wednesday, January 24, addressing the theme of the conference, “Stand Up for Our Future,” as workers and leaders across the country recognize this unique and historic moment for the labor movement and prepare to fight for the future of the working class in 2024.
Attendees will hear from U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders (VT), Ed Markey (MA), Amy Klobuchar (MN), Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), Gary Peters (MI) and U.S. Representatives Debbie Dingell (MI), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Rashida Tlaib (MI), Ro Khanna (CA), and Labor Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ).
