OMAHA – The United Auto Workers have endorsed Dan Osborn, an Independent candidate for U.S. Senate in Nebraska. Osborn was a leader in 2021 for the Kellogg’s strike in Omaha, which saw the end of a two-tier wage system—something UAW has also fought hard for in past strikes.
“We need candidates like Dan who aren’t afraid to be an independent voice for the working class in the halls of power,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. “It isn't about your political party; it’s about taking the fight against corporate greed to Washington DC. As a union member, Dan knows all about that fight, and we’ve got his back.”
“It’s time for labor to get behind candidates who look like us, talk like us, and know the issues facing working class people,” said UAW Region 4 Director Brandon Campbell. “Let’s support candidates like Dan Osborn and invest in taking back the U.S. Senate for the working class.”
The UAW is committed to electing pro-worker candidates to represent the working class in Washington. As a former Kellog’s worker in Omaha, Dan Osborn understands the experiences of UAW members everywhere. He knows what it’s like to work hard to support a family, as he’s done for his wife and three kids.
Polling shows this will be a competitive race, and with support from labor, Osborn is a serious contender deserving of more union backing. The UAW is excited to join the movement to elect Dan Osborn to the U.S. Senate.
