UAW Members at GE Aerospace Are on Strike After Rejecting Company’s Final Offer

After a lowball offer that failed to address the workers’ core demands, over 600 GE Aerospace workers represented by UAW Local 647 in two facilities are officially on strike.

CINCINNATI—Over 600 workers represented by UAW Local 647 at GE Aerospace have walked out on strike across two facilities in Evendale, OH and Erlanger, KY. After the contract expired at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday night, workers felt the company’s last offer did not meet their core issue demands: job security, health care costs, pay, and time off.

"Our members aren’t asking to be millionaires,” said Brian Strunk, UAW Local 647 President.  “We are simply demanding things that every worker deserves: decent healthcare and a secure future. We are going to stand together as a united membership until we win what we are owed.”

“GE Aerospace is the epitome of what’s wrong with this country,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. “Over the last three years, GE CEO Larry Culp was given a 985% pay increase. Last year, he made $89 million in compensation. But when it comes to the workers who build the products, who sacrifice day in and day out, suddenly the company is broke. We aren’t falling for it.”

Between 2022 to 2024, GE Aerospace has reaped record profit surpassing $17 billion and over $16 billion in shareholder distributions. UAW-GE workers have mobilized for weeks in support of a fair contract, organizing such actions as mass plant solidarity walks every Wednesday at both the Erlanger and Evendale sites.

“UAW members at Rolls-Royce are ready” said UAW Region 2B Director David Green. “We are standing together in solidarity and we will have each other’s backs until we get a fair contract.”
